Ah, the glorious first day of classes...stress and fun all in one! After my classes for the day ended, I had the privilege of working the Solar Eclipse Event. I was very excited for this because I love the moon, space, the universe, etc. It has always fascinated me. As a kid I actually dreamed of becoming an astronaut. Yup. You read that right. Not a princess, an astronaut. This is the full solar eclipse that I witnessed in my lifetime. The eclipse was 91% totality in Cincinnati so although it didn't get completely dark, there was an eerie, dark glow. I handed out NASA approved eclipse viewing glasses and mingled with other students, faculty, and some other familiar SOLful faces while history was in the making. After the moon passed between the sun and Earth in it's precise pattern, I helped clean up. When finishing, I was told that my attendance really made a difference and without me, there would have been a lack of organization and information. It felt really good to hear those words. I had so much fun! Nothing too exciting happened in any of my classes as it was syllabus week but I must say that I am so stoked for Biological Psychology (or Psychobiology, whichever name you prefer). Biological Psychology is the sub-field of psychology that I am aiming to specialize in (I may or may not had started reading Chapter 1 before classes even started...oops). I am confident that this semester is going to be one for books! Both figuratively and literally. Until next time. -L.
